Basic principle of advertising:

"If it needs to be simple, never make it clever. If it will work in black and white, never pay for colour. If it can communicate effectively in ten words, never use eleven."

It is easy to spend £1,000's on advertising and not to get results. Effective communication is what advertising is all about. Placing your advertisement in the right place, at the right time, with the right product takes time. Newspapers will often talk to you about readership figures. The numbers are large and impressive and often audited, but what do they really mean? Readership is the estimated number of people who will read that paper or magazine. There is an accepted formula for calculating these figures. With newspapers it is x3 the quantity sold, and magazines can be x10. Actually how many sold is not that important to you - the important thing to you it is how many sold to people who are likely to want your product?
